A meditation for solving problems

The Open Door Practice
This is one of my favourite practices. It's simple, it's effective and it involves one of my favourite things: doors!
Visualise a beautiful door
Visualise yourself standing in front of a door - any kind of door is OK, as long as you like it - it could be a big old castle-door, a beautiful oak-carved door, an ultra-modern looking door - or any other kind of door you can think of.
Ask the question
Imagine that behind this door is the answer to a question you want to know the answer to - the question doesn't have to be a problem in the negative sense of the word, it could be a question about something good. Now, mentally, ask your question.
Visualise the door opening
As you visualise the door slowly opening, imagine white light beaming through it. As it opens wider and wider visualise more and more brilliant white light pouring out of it.
Allow the answer to come to you
As you stand there, bathed in the white light streaming through the door, allow thoughts to come to you. It doesn't matter how absurd these thoughts may appear to be, just let them come to you.
Be patient
An answer might come to you immediately, or it might not. It might pop into your head the next day, or the following week. The important thing about this practice is that you have started the ball rolling, as it were: you have consciously requested information - it may take a little while for the relevant part of your brain to reply. This exercise uses not only the imagination, but also the intuition.
